The Boathouse lives up to it's name. It was the home of Rich Brothers boat building. Over 150 wooden boats were built here over the years. The Downeast craftmanship of these famous vessel's is gone but the spirit of the building lives on in the working Up Harbor Marina which is also part of the property.
A short walk, drive or kayak away is Thurston' Lobster Pound, the premier seafood restaurant on Mount Desert Island.

We hope you will come stay with us in this very serene but energetic neighborhood. We are on the 'Quietside' of the island where the pace is slower;  the 'front side' where Bar Harbor's T-shirt shops and bustling town is a 30 minute drive. Bass Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Seal Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and other villages each have their own charm and unique finds.

Acadia National Park surrounds these towns and has myriad carriage paths for biking, trails for hiking, Sand Beach, Ocean Drive; you must see the sunrise from Cadillac Mountain, the first spot on the east coast to see the sun in the States!
